Mark Villalpando​

Mark has worked as an attorney, retailer, developer, development director, asset manager, and property manager among other roles. Mark has negotiated hundreds of leases, either as a tenant, landlord, or as their respective representative.

Mark’s highly cultivated experience is valuable in his consulting assignments with ARES Group. Mark specializes in evaluating client real estate assets, capital structure, and processes in order to create strategic alternatives for bold improvement and turnaround.

Mark was the original Boston Chicken franchisee in Phoenix, Tucson, and Las Vegas and was also the Director of Development for the Boston Chicken franchise in the Southwest. Mark then moved to Einstein Noah Bagel Corp. at its inception and participated in the acquisition and conversion of 5 separate bagel companies into Einstein Brothers Bagels and Noah’s Bagels. He helped establish the development plans for Einstein Brothers in most Western markets and managed the development process for Noah’s Bagels after the acquisition.

After his work on the retail tenant side, Mark became a developer of shopping centers with Univest, Vestar, and Vertical Holdings Company. His development work includes many community and neighborhood retail centers working with anchor tenants such as Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Kohl’s, and Home Depot. Mark has also served as a real estate and corporate attorney for the law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy, and was a member of the Board of First Arizona Savings Bank for over 20 years.

Mark graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctorate Degree. He has a BS in General Business from the University of Arizona.
